A little note about me...
I'm an aspiring South African author, writing various genres, but trying to focus on YA fantasy fiction novels. Although I consider myself to be a full-blooded Capetonian, my husband and I have been living in Gauteng for the last 2 years or so.
I've been writing my whole life. My mother says that as soon as I was able to write, I started writing stories about our family dog. By the time I was 9 years old I was tired of physically writing out my stories and asked for a typewriter, so that my stories could be written faster and look more professional! So for Christmas that year my parents got me a pinkish second-hand Olivetti typewriter, which I still have to this very day! I've finished a bunch of poems and short stories. When I was 17 I finished my first novella called 'Dead-End Dreams.'
I am a qualified Occupational Therapist by profession. I've spent many years working in a clinical setting, doing hands-on work with patients in various hospitals. My husband and I lived and worked in the UK for a while as well, before returning home to SA. I still work as an OT by day, but in a corporate setting.
I have a wonderfully supportive husband and two golden Labradors named Daisy and Lola who are like our children. We also have two uninvited frogs on our property who can often be found relaxing in our dogs' water bowl!
I love reading (obviously), the outdoors, travelling and cooking.
Naturally, in my spare time I write as much as I can in my quest in becoming a published writer.
